22 Things to do in 2022 – Year in Review (Part 1)

Hi Readers! Year-end means the year end reviews of everything I did or didn’t do. Every year I am always emphatically happy to write the four to six year in review posts. But, this year, everything is happening with a side of stress to it. And, I hate that I am not able to fully enjoy the process. But, anyway, here I am trying anyway.

The first post of the Year in Review series reviews the 22 Things I wanted to do in 2022. I have failed spectacularly. But, that only means there is so much to work to do in 2023. Here is the aesthetically pleasing image of the 2022 Goals.

~~WELL-BEING~~

I had eight things to do under well-being. I somehow managed to do five of them. Not completely. But just with immaculate imperfection with no consistency to it at all. But I did do them for longer than six months, which is why I am ticking them off. From this lot, I am going to carry forward almost all of these goals to next year as well.

~~Stay Active~~

I achieved this by doing a lot of different things. In terms of working out, I went to the gym sometimes, I did yoga at home at other times, I went out for a long walk some mornings and I played Badminton on a few weekends. I also tried to get up from my office desk every hour despite of having back-to-back calls.

~~Mental Health~~

I have tried to be more mindful and have tried my best to understand all the feelings I was feeling. I also got to the root of many of them. This was again, not consistent, but as you know, it’s a continuous process.

~~Anger Management~~

This is again in connection to mental health. I might have had fewer than five outbursts this year. And when I did, I tried to go through them to understand the reasons behind them. I would say that’s good progress.

~~Play A Brain Game~~

I played Wordle a lot and sometimes Sudoku too.

~~Write a Gratitude & Happiness Diary~~

I did this for a very short time. But, when I read about those few days, I was once again filled with gratitude and happiness.

~~Monthly 24-hours Social Media Break~~

I did this only for 4 out of 12 months.

~~No Electronics Before Bed~~

I tried this for a couple of months but then gave up.

~~Eat Mindfully~~

I did not do this at all this year.

~~PROFESSIONAL~~

I have again done things halfway from this list. There was a lot happening at work all of the 12 months, if you can believe it.

~~Take Courses~~

I did do a lot of courses. Some of them were really insightful and knowledgeable. Others had less applicability. But all of them were really interesting.

~~Get A Certification~~

I started doing two inhouse certifications. One of them needs a lot of time and commitment. It’s also going to take longer than I thought to complete it. But, I am on the right track. The other one is not super applicable to my field, so it’s on pause. But, I might pick it up again soon.

~~Write Articles on LinkedIn~~

The goal was to write six articles. I have written four articles so far. I was going to write two more just to tick this from the list. But, that’s not happening.

~~Listen to TED Talks~~

I did not foresee not completing this, so much so, that it was totally ignored. I only listened to 10 TED talks from my goal of 52.

~~HOBBIES~~

From the six goals of hobbies, I completed only three. I really wanted to complete all of them, because hobbies are essential. I focused only on books, as usual. So, I am definitely keeping most of the things from this list for the next year.

~~Read 50 Books~~

I read 80 books! More on this in Part 2 of Year in Review!

~~Write 50 Blog Posts~~

I have easily written 50+ blog posts this year. They were in a combination of book reviews, book recommendations, monthly roundup posts and so on.

~~Doodle~~

The only way I could achieve my doodling target is by participating in Inktober, which was a lot of fun! Definitely doing it next year as well.

~~Write Something Everyday~~

I failed terribly at this. The only thing I did write was emails. And that’s a saddening reality.

~~Read & Write in Marathi~~

A big zero for this one as well. Hopefully will work more on this next year!

~~PERSONAL~~

I had four personal goals. I achieved three out of four of them, which was great. Although, the one I didn’t achieve was something really crucial, so I will keep at it!

So, that is all folks. I had a lot of trouble sticking to these goals. This is why, I was thinking of not doing ’23 Things to do in 2023’. But when I started to chalk down things, they went up to 23 easily. Did you achieve your 2022 new year resolutions? Have you set any for 2023 yet? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,
