Books Read in December 2023!
Hi Readers! Last monthly review of the year is here! I have already written my yearly reviews, so some might say why bother with a monthly review for December. But, those some will also know that I am a creature of habit. Also, how could I neglect the pretty December templates this way? So, here we are! I read THREE BOOKS across 800 PAGES in December. I think this constituted just the first week, because I had to reach 80 books for the year, and I also needed to finish 80 soon so that I could then look at stats and yearly reviews. You know how it is! Anyway, here are the three books.
~~THE BOMBAY PRINCE by SUJATA MASSEY~~
The Bombay Prince is the third book in the Perveen Mistry Investigates series by Sujata Massey. Set in 1921, it revolves around Perveen, who is the sole solicitor in Bombay. In this book, Edward VIII, Prince of Wales arrives in Bombay. The city is divided with one group welcoming him while the other group rioting against him. At the center of it all is the Woodburn college where there is a suspicious death. The writing is similar as to the first two books, where there are a lot of robotic conversations with a disjointed continuation of the story. I have rated The Bombay Prince by Sujata Massey at 3/5 stars!

~~FRIENDS, LOVERS AND THE BIG TERRIBLE THING by MATTHEW PERRY~~
When Matthew Perry’s memoir was first published, I was keen to read it. But, I read many reviews where it stated that the book was full of self-pity, which is why I didn’t read it. But, last month, after the sudden passing of Perry, I was extremely sad. I watch Friends every day, so it felt like I had lost a friend. This was the reason I picked this book. Initially, it was difficult and sad to read. But, unfortunately, it soon became a whole drama about self-pity, so much so, that I actually speed-read the last half of the book. (This is something I rarely do.) I have rated Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry at 2/5 stars!
~~MENOPAUSE: A COMIC TREATMENT by MK CZERWIEC~~
Menopause is a collection of comics, which was simply brilliant. I enjoyed the stories as well as the artwork a lot. As mentioned by the author in the introduction, no one has created something like this around a topic like this. It had its humour, but it also had information. I think every woman should read this book. I have rated Menopause: A Comic Treatment by MK Czerwiec at 4/5 stars!

~~LIFE LATELY~~
December has been a blast. Personal life was at a speed of 80, work life was at a speed of 80, holiday spirit also at 80 and travelling spirit at 80 too! My cousin brother got married on the 10th! There were many events that happened before the wedding as well. I had so much fun in all of those days, and just purest of the pure joy for my brother! My sibling, my cousin brother and I have always been united wherever we went. It feels like just yesterday we were kids playing made-up games, and in the blink of an eye, one of us is now married! So grown up. Life is amazing that way, just sneaks past you while you crib about Mondays and wait for Fridays. 😊
December is usually slow work-wise, but that was not at all the case this year. Whatever time I had when I wasn’t dressing up in traditional clothes or planning my trip, I was busy perfecting the 2024 reading templates and writing the year-in-review posts! So, in some ways, I did a lot more this month than any other month! I will leave the bitter-sweetness of the year ending for another post. Until then, happy holidays!!
Until next time,
