May 2024 Wrap-Up!
Hi Readers! May has been the highlight of 2024! It was the month of my first international trip to the US! I had the time of my life. Never had 20 days felt so ridiculously short! I was in Virginia, Washington DC, Philadelphia & New York City! Of course, I took 5 books with me, but ended up reading only one of those and another ebook. But, this is the only month where I will feel that that’s okay, but I had so many amazing experiences and new core memories created!
~~BOOKS~~
I read TWO books across 800 PAGES in May. I loved both the books, so I am really happy with this month’s reading!
~~FUNNY STORY by EMILY HENRY~~
After 4 books of disappointment, I finally liked Emily Henry’s fifth book, Funny Story! Funny Story worked for me for a lot of reasons. Most importantly, it did not have all the flaws that the first four books had. No annoying characters. No cliché stories. Predictable yet not cringey. Hot romance. And most importantly, it wasn’t just a romantic novel. It was about glorifying healthy relationships. I think in retrospect, I have more affection for the book because I can appreciate the entire finished puzzle better rather than just looking at single pieces.
I have rated Funny Story by Emily Henry at 4/5 stars! You can read the full review below!
~~THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE ALPERTON ANGELS by JANICE HALLET~~
After reading an amazing review for this book on Instagram, I knew I had to read this book. This is a mystery novel in the form of epistolary fiction, which I generally love! I don’t think I had read a book which was entirely in the form of emails, text messages, transcribed documents etc. There was a lot of that in Cover Story, which was the first book of the genre that I loved. But, in this book, not only is it all in the form of documents, it’s also from the point of view of a true-crime author actually writing a book about the Alperton Angels. I loved the characters. The plot was fascinating. It did become a bit monotonous midway, but I am glad I stuck through it.
I have rated The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels by Janice Hallet at 5/5 stars! I will write a review soon!
