February 2025 Recap!

Hi Readers! How was your February? The shortest month of the year really made me feel its every single day quite laboriously. In a nutshell, I read very little. The two books which I read this month were across two days. Otherwise, I have been reading The One Hundred Years of Lenni & Margot by Marianne Cronin.
Since January was a full social calendar month, I took the role of my well-established homebody for almost the entire February. So, this post is not as happening as the last one. Professionally, I feel like I’m at my lowest. But, then like Rachel Green says, “There’s rock bottom, then 50 feet of crap, then me.” This is me every day because whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and apparently that’s SOME. THING. EVERY. DAY. Thank you for listening to me rant! Maybe a full social calendar isn’t too bad an idea to let all this out! The only AMAZING highlight was MY FEBRUARY FITNESS CHALLENGE. Anyway, now the detailed recap, here you go!
~~BOOKS~~
I read 2 BOOKS across 416 PAGES in February. The great thing is that I loved both these books a lot.
~~THE LANTERN OF LOST MEMORIES by SANAKA HIIRAGI~~
The Lantern of Lost Memories is made up of three short stories, where in each one a person has died and is transported to a rest stop which is a photo studio where their photos are developed based on the memories which flash through their eyes before they die. I found all three stories to be unique, with each speaking of different values all relevant to humans in all walks of life. The book is simple in its writing. I loved how I got to understand the characters so well in the span of a few pages. I loved the photography aspect of it as well, and the concept of the lantern. I have rated The Lantern of Lost Memories by Sanaka Hiiragi, translated by Jesse Kirkwood at 5/5 stars!
~~THROUGH THE WOODS by EMILY CARROLL~~
Through the Woods by Emily Carroll is a graphic novel consisting of five short stories. I reckon you can classify this one in the horror genre. I haven’t read or seen anything like this in a graphic novel before, so I was thoroughly amused, and at times shook. The colours really pop in the artwork, which I enjoyed. The strokes were so masterful that I couldn’t help but take screenshots and admire them now and then. The stories were all so unique and often ended on a cliffhanger leaving it to the readers’ interpretation. I’ll look forward to reading more of Carroll’s graphic novels! I have rated Through the Woods by Emily Carroll at 4/5 stars!
~~FEBRUARY READING STATS AND MORE~~
~~FEBRUARY FITNESS~~
I found a hack to make it feel like each month is going by slowly and not in the blink of an eye like it usually goes. Most of you will hate the answer to this. Some of you might find it interesting. And only a few of you will love it. Here it is – Fitness Challenge! Yep, you read that right.
My goal for February was a Daily 5 Km Morning Walk! I accomplished it!!
The first week I cursed myself for taking up this challenge. The second week I was counting down days till it will be over. The third week I felt exhausted. And, the last week, I was simply glad it was the last week! So, no redeemable lesson here. It was a lot of walking to commit to every day. Some days I walked super fast. Some days I walked quite slow. Some days I just had to drag my feet between 4.5 Km to 5 Km. But, this was my challenge and I was accountable to myself. There was never an option to not do it, nor did it cross my mind.
It’s not a sustainable activity for me to do daily, because I need to balance walking with yoga, strength training and meditation. This month I only did yoga and strength training on the weekends which I found to be insufficient. So, February Fitness is over. I am going to continue my Daily Workout but just in a more reasonable manner. But yes, I’m super happy and proud of myself for accomplishing this!

~~LIFE LATELY~~
Until next, time,
