January 2026 Recap!

Happy end of January!
When the month and the year started, there was a switch that turned on. Eating right, making my own tiffin for office, working out every day, being active, getting the 8 to 10k steps daily and you know the rest. Sad to report that it didn’t last long. But, I am going to try to flip that switch every month or rather every time I see myself slipping. How is it that something that we know is good for us is also something we find excuses to not do? But, here’s to always finding the right track.
Jan felt like it went on forever, but mostly for all the good reasons! I remember planning this month and realizing there is something planned every weekend. January is typically the art month, and so naturally I wanted to see it all, like I do every year. In addition, I also went to NMACC to watch a play with my parents. I also had a trip planned to Goa with my extended family for the 26th Jan long weekend. Aside from the fun aspects, work weeks went by quickly but also, I couldn’t wait till Fridays. I know that’s a contradiction, but it is what it is. Find out more on how much I didn’t read and how much I did a lot of exploring and living life with a pause.
~~BOOKS~~
Like I said, when the year started, I was determined in each and every aspect. So, reading was one of those too. I finished a book in the first week of the month. But then I didn’t read anything else for the entirety of the month. Because I wasn’t reading, I wasn’t much active on my blog Insta account. And, when I’m not active there, I tend to forget the joys of reading. I am still okay with doing it at my own pace, but I miss the me who could read the entire day.
I read 1 book across 226 Pages in January. This was The Passengers on the Hankyu Line by Hiro Arikawa, translated by Allison Markin Powell. This choice of book worked out perfectly as it was January in Japan as well, and I always read at least one Japanese book every January to keep it fun. This book revolves around a few characters as they travel on the train. It really holds up a mirror to all of us who are in the same situation every day commuting to work. So many people on a train, all with different stories, different emotions during that particular time, completely different thoughts too. I enjoyed reading this book a lot and rated it at 4/5 stars!
~~STATS & MORE~~
Slide 3: The stats are almost laughable. Not only because it’s just one book, but because of the days and pages read graph. Such a typical new-years-resolution-died-down-within-a-week kind of a picture.
Slide 4: I am yet to write the review of the book I read almost a month ago, so yes, I have already forgotten things. But, it’s because I take notes and highlight my favorite quotes, I will get it back and will share more!
Slide 6 to 8: Usually when I don’t read, I watch. But, because of the heavy social calendar, I mostly re-watched.
~~LIFE LATELY~~
Slide 1: A better fitness view than December, but need to go much more above and beyond.
Slide 2: Went to watch the Mughal-e-Azam play at NMACC with my parents. At first, I wasn’t super excited, but when I entered the auditorium, I knew this was going to be magnanimous. The visuals, the tech, the actors and dancers, it was all simply fabulous. This and only this is how a play should be seen!
Slide 3 & 4: It was Suruchi and mine’s third year art gallery hopping for Mumbai Gallery Weekend! We went to 14 art galleries around South Mumbai and loved so many different kinds of artwork. The one on Slide 3 is from Gallery Maskara; it’s made from over 350k discarded cigarette butts! And, the one on Slide 4 is from Galerie Isa; it’s made from dry pigment, charcoal on paper, mounted on aluminium!
Slide 5: My cousin brother Suraaj and his wife Janhavi invited me and my other cousin and his wife over for New Year’s. It was the perfect party in the sense that we had the best home-made food, followed by midnight coffee and games throughout the evening and bedtime at 2 AM. Not even being sarcastic, because this is the only and perfect way to host a house party.
Slide 6 & 7: 🤪🫠🥺
Slide 8: Met my school besties Aishwarya and Divya. We always go to the same place and eat South Indian food. But, this time we went to a different place but still ate South Indian food. Some things ought not change!
Slide 9: Goa trip photos start here! I met Rupali, my former boss turned friend. Since she’s based in Goa, every time I go there, I always always meet her. We have the best time discussing things we can’t discuss over MS Teams. LOL. I got to meet her daughter again too, and she’s just the cutest kid there is!
Slide 10 to 12: Goa, babyyyyy! Me and my cousins actually made 6 reels of the many many many which we intended to, so kudos to us. It was good fun hanging out with them at games & drinks night or hitting the cafes or shooting insane reels or just chilling by the pool!
Slide 13: Toodaloo!
Until next time,
