June 2026 Recap!

Hi Readers! June has been a long month! A lot of it went by waiting for monsoons, and yet we are still deprived of those famous Mumbai rains. A lot of it also went in adjusting to the new work schedule; it keeps changing every week depending on my sleep schedule. But, I have found that the general shift is far better even if I have to get up at 6 AM and sleep by 10 PM. Reading-wise it was super slow, all thanks to one book which was very boring. I did meet my friend and we made a day of it, even in the scorching heat, it was a lot of fun!

That’s about it. Nothing too memorable, aside from little joys now and then; of glimpsing the sun rays find their way from between the branches of the canopy, of getting a huge gorgeous sunflower at the flower shop, of gifting books to friends for birthdays, of happy news from friends, of leaves being approved, of friends remembering to give me junk for my junk journal, of laughing with mom while watching a terrible movie, of convincing dad to shop for himself for once, of having my Instagram feed full of Harry Styles Together Together concert, of the last good mangoes of the season, of being quickly recovered from the flu, of plans made and also of plans cancelled. Little joys. Big life.

~~BOOKS~~

I read THREE BOOKS across 841 PAGES in JUNE! For most of the month, I was just reading The Clock House Murders. It almost put me in a reading slump, which was surprising because I have read and liked the author’s previous books. I also started reading Rhythm of War (Stormlight Archive, Book 4) by Brandon Sanderson. And, I am also reading Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell during my lunch breaks. The speed for both these books is going super slow, but still moving bit by bit every day. Check out the books I read!

~~THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN by MATT HAIG~~

The Midnight Train is the story of Wilbur Budd, who has died in his eighties, and is now on the Midnight Train to watch his life in significant moments which will make him understand who he really was. Wilbur never knew his father because he died before he was born. His mother and elder brother Dougie, flawed as they were, were all he had. And then Maggie entered his life and everything changed for him. He had someone to live for, someone to love, someone whose mere presence brought him happiness. We see Wilbur’s life, how he becomes a success and what comes at the cost of that success. I have rated The Midnight Train by Matt Haig at 2.5/5 stars!

~~THE CLOCK HOUSE MURDERS by YUKITA AYATSUJI~~

Imagine a house built somewhat in the shape of a clock with a pendulum and housing over 100 clocks in it. Ten years previously, there were multiple deaths surrounding the people who lived in this house. And now, a team of mystery and paranormal enthusiasts from a University along with some people from a magazine have got a chance to stay locked up in this house for 3 days. Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong, and it does! We see people getting murdered one after the other in a house that is supposed to be locked so the murderer must be inside. I have rated The Clock House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji, translated by Ho-Ling Wong at 2/5 stars!

~~THE ARRIVAL by SHAUN TAN~~

I read graphic novels every time I feel like I need a change from the usual format of books. Reading The Arrival was an entirely different reading experience. This was the first novel I read, which I also didn’t technically read, because it’s ONLY PICTURES and no words. The art is so detailed and unbelievably it sustains. We see the progression of the story only in pictures because it’s a way to emulate the main character who is an immigrant who is not able to speak the local language. I think everyone should read this book! I have rated The Arrival by Shaun Tan at 5/5 stars!

~~STATS AND MORE~~

Glad to again have read all three books from my physical TBR this month. After reading two books I did not enjoy, I had to read a graphic novel as a saving grace. I also watched some excellent TV series this month and a few terrible movies too! Check them out below to find your next binge watch worthy series!

~~LIFE LATELY~~

  1. Getting up at 6 AM to workout is difficult, so there were ups and downs when it came to working out. Better than last month, but still way more to go!
  2. Mandatory video calls with the family, no matter what.
  3. Didn’t experiment much at cooking this month. But, loved everything that mom and I made and also what we ordered.
  4. Fun fun day out with Suruchi. An average lunch in an aesthetic café followed by an average cold brew at another French patisserie followed by a walk in the scorching heat followed by blissful calm at the lake.
  5. I cannot believe I painted twice this month! It seems like it was a long time ago. It’s been a long month.
  6. March babies and Pisces babies: Is this right or is this right?
  7. Stormlight Archive: I WILL conquer you.
  8. HOTD season has begun! I have low expectations, which is probably why I liked the first episode!
  9. Harry Harry Harry.
  10. Hard launching my junk journal!
  11. My mom said this photo looks like they are waiting for parents to come back home, and now there’s no other explanation that makes sense other than this!
  12. See you next month!

Until next time,
