It has been way too long, and honestly this time I have no excuses. After my month-long reading slump, I got back into it with <\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">Kristin Hannah\u2019s \u2018The Four Winds\u2019<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13pt;\">. Just the fact of being out of the slump has made me lazy &amp; I have given up trying too hard. I read when I get the time or when I am in the mood or when there is literally nothing else I want to do. But, lately, I am not able to read for a whole day &amp; worse is I don\u2019t feel like reading all day. I know! Forgive me, readers!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">I have wanted to write a post about <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">my favourite women authors<\/span><\/b> since the beginning of this month, and now I finally have some time. <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">Today\u2019s my birthday!<\/span><\/b> And, I am doing all the little things that make me happy instead of doing one extreme thing. So, first of all, I wish all my amazing readers a <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">Happy Women\u2019s History Month!!<\/span><\/b> Being a voracious reader (I hope I still am), I thought of the best &amp; only way I could contribute to celebrating women &#8216; <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">Praising all my favourite women authors!!<\/span><\/b> When I thought of writing this post, I did not realise just the sheer number of women authors I absolutely love! I know a lot of people read books specifically by women authors or black women authors or so on. But, it works best for me if I read as per genre, which is why I was in awe of myself when I found out the number of my women author idols! <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"color: #00b0f0; font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">~~JHUMPA LAHIRI~~<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">I have only read 2 of Jhumpa Lahiri\u2019s books, but I have loved them both &#8216; <a href=\"https:\/\/mindscapeinwords.com\/2020\/08\/unaccustomed-earth-by-jhumpa-lahiri.html\">Unaccustomed Earth<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/mindscapeinwords.com\/2020\/04\/march-reads-8-mini-book-reviews.html\">Interpreter of Maladies<\/a>. Her ability to bring out emotions in the readers is remarkable. Even the stories I do not relate to, I can imagine relating to which then make me so entirely empathetic &amp; it\u2019s a whole maze of new feelings to discover. I also liked <a href=\"https:\/\/mindscapeinwords.com\/2021\/01\/firefly-lane-by-kristin-hannah-book.html\">Firefly Lane<\/a> even though it was a different kind of novel that the ones I read. I am currently reading \u2018The Four Winds\u2019, which is going well &amp; I am sure there will be something big hitting me soon, leaving me bereft &amp; I cannot wait for it! I have read them both. <a href=\"https:\/\/mindscapeinwords.com\/2020\/04\/a-little-life-to-read-or-not-to-read.html\">A Little Life<\/a> is the book that wrecked me emotionally &amp; remains in my Top 5. It will always be the book that I recommend too much to too many people. <a href=\"https:\/\/mindscapeinwords.com\/2020\/11\/the-people-in-trees-by-hanya-yanagihara.html\">The People in the Trees<\/a> is a completely different story with its own infinite sets of life lessons. <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">The kind of power over words that Hanya Yanagihara possesses is truly unmatched<\/span><\/b>. She may write one bland paragraph but there will be an ocean worth of wisdom between the lines. Her writing makes me want to dream big things. I have read both of them &amp; loved them both more than words can state. For someone who was not a fan of mythological fiction, she sure turned me around faster than I even realized what was happening. <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">I can totally imagine following her in a forest practicing the beauty &amp; power of witchcraft through literature.<\/span><\/b> I am in awe of her intelligence, imagination &amp; simplicity. Anyone is capable of writing these two books, but only Madeline Miller can write them in a way that will leave the reader drowning in a pool of their own tears, befuddled, in a sort of mythological heaven. The thing I loved about both the books was the after-effect they had on me. You can describe the story of both the novels in 15 sentences or less &amp; yet the loss of words &amp; loss of thought after finishing these books is something else.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"678\" height=\"904\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mindscapeinwords.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WHM05-scaled.jpg?resize=678%2C904&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-936\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mindscapeinwords.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WHM05-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mindscapeinwords.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WHM05-scaled.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mindscapeinwords.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WHM05-scaled.jpg?resize=1152%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 1152w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mindscapeinwords.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WHM05-scaled.jpg?resize=1536%2C2048&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mindscapeinwords.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WHM05-scaled.jpg?w=1356&amp;ssl=1 1356w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"color: #00b0f0; font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">~~TAYLOR JENKINS-REID~~<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">On a more fun &amp; not-so-serious note, Taylor Jenkins-Reid is my go-to author when I want to read something casual, but not too boring. Beach reads are not for me, because the stupidity of the characters in such books only makes my blood boil. So, when I am not in a mood for anything intense, I turn to her. I have read \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindscapeinwords.com\/2019\/05\/daisy-jones-and-six-mindscape-reviews.html\">Daisy Jones And The Six<\/a>\u2019 &amp;\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindscapeinwords.com\/2020\/05\/the-seven-husbands-of-evelyn-hugo.html\">The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo<\/a>\u2019. I absolutely enjoyed reading both these books. There is just so much content in the story which I love &amp; so many characters none of whom are neglected or are a clich\u00e9. <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">There\u2019s a magical quality to her writing which made both these books a hard to put down.<\/span><\/b> I haven\u2019t read her earlier books, which are more of the romantic genre. I don\u2019t want to either, because I have read reviews that state these two are her best. Here\u2019s to many more in-between books that let me soar high in the sky leaving me up above the slump pit!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"color: #00b0f0; font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">~~OTHERS~~<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"color: #c55a11; font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">Donna Tartt\u2019s<\/span><\/b> <span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindscapeinwords.com\/2019\/09\/why-you-should-read-goldfinch.html\">The Goldfinch<\/a>\u2019 is in my Top 10. I think it was the first book I read of that length. It completely convinced of reading big books. Now <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">I like big books &amp; I cannot lie!<\/span><\/b> I also plan on reading Tartt\u2019s \u2018The Secret History\u2019 soon enough.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">It goes without saying that <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">J.K. Rowling<\/span><\/b> is among <a href=\"https:\/\/mindscapeinwords.com\/2020\/05\/top-5-favourite-authors.html\">my favourite authors<\/a>. While I do not like her opinions on some matters, she gave me a whole wizarding world to find comfort in. So, she will always stay in here. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Sitka Banner'; font-size: 13.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">When it comes to modern-age poets, I have had my difficulties with all of them. I think <b><span style=\"color: #c55a11; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #C55A11; mso-style-textfill-fill-colortransforms: lumm=75000; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: accent2; mso-themecolor: accent2; mso-themeshade: 191;\">Rupi Kaur<\/span><\/b> comes close enough to be included in this list.
