21 Things to do in 2021 – Year in Review (Part 1)
Hi Readers! We are at the end of the year & like last year, this one was full of uncertainties, loss, growth, hope & passion. Every time there was some relief pertaining to the pandemic, there came a new variant which put us back in the four walls of safety. Every time there was some hope of normalcy, we were pushed to accept the new normal. Every time it felt like we were a little freer, right back we went into our homes.
But, unlike last year, in 2021 we also became more adaptable, more open to change, more free & most importantly more hopeful. This year, I like to believe that we allowed ourselves to grow & blossom despite our circumstances. This year, I like to believe that we let ourselves live more in the moment & take charge of the fragility that is our lives. This year, I like to believe that we learnt to live with fear as a constant in our lives, but not once letting it take the front seat. And, this year, I also like to believe that we came out a little more in touch with ourselves than ever before.
At the beginning of this year, I had set some goals, or my usual 21 Things to do in 2021. Needless to say, that I did not achieve all the 21 things. I did achieve 16 things completely, 2 things partially & 3 things not at all. Below is my updated 2021 goal sheet!
The most important thing which I achieved was improvements for my blog, which is why I wanted to mention it specially. I am super happy about all the changes I made to Mindscape in Words. I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress, implemented a lot of customizations to the theme, made it mobile & laptop friendly. I also started to be more active on Bookstagram. And to do that, I learnt how to make reels! Those of you who know me well know how much I value words, which is why I did not want to post my thoughts & reviews on Instagram, much less in a video format. I spent a lot of time, money & effort on my blog which is why I wanted people to read my thoughts & reviews there. But only if the world worked so perfectly. So, I have decided to strike a balance between the two. I continue to write all the reviews & book related posts on Mindscape in Words. But, once a while I also make a reel in relation to whatever is trending. Gotta play the game to stay in the game after all.
The 16 things which I completed were the ones I knew I would complete despite the challenge, especially the ones in the personal, literature & hobbies areas. Even though I focused a lot on learning, I did not take any courses to really learn Adobe Photoshop or Beginners IT. I wish I could say that these are the things I will complete next year. But they were already carried forward from 2020, so obviously I doubt I will ever find the time to invest in them next year if I couldn’t in the last 2 years. But, that’s okay. Some things are easier to accomplish than others. Some come easily while some don’t. And, I have decided to not beat myself up about the things I didn’t do, and instead to celebrate for the things I did!
